Dear girl who said marching band isn't a sport,
Please realize that people in my band practice the last 2 weeks of July from 8 until 6. In case you don't know, July is the HOTTEST month where I come from. I know you probably think that all band kids do is sit in a room with a chair and play an instrument. Whoa um definitely not. Let me take you through my day, I arrive at 8. From there we stretch OUTSIDE for an hour. Then we move on to matching fundamentals. What is that? Well, we all get in block formation and march...in the sun...for 2 hours. I know it may seem easy but, believe me it isn't. You listen to a metronome all day and you have to keep time with it. Not easy at all. A lot of mental work goes into it. And don't tell me that matching band isn't a sport. Our drummers carry 40 pound drums ALL day. Usually, the low is about 85 and the high is 105. Our band is pretty ripped. We are all extremely close and I wouldn't dare change a thing.
Sincerely, First in state and extremely proud of my band.
